Engine Repairs and Maintenance

Diesel engine repair and maintenance is one of the core services of ACROMEX. Skilled engineers and mechanics with shipyard, OEM, power station and seagoing experience know where to look and where to start troubleshooting any engine. With deep technical and engineering skills, we are able to quickly analyze requirements and get down to completing the job.
Engine Overhauls

Our highly trained service workforce is dedicated to providing everything from complete installation, to maintenance and repair needs, as well major engine overhauls as and rapid parts delivery support to ensure peak performance and hassle-free operation.
Operation & Maintenance Contracts

Acromex can provide complete operation and maintenance services to customers in Power Generation businesses, and our service contracts will be designed to meet the often-unique requirements that owners face in developing cost-effective maintenance strategies for their assets. We can provide Contract Management Services ranging in scope from total responsibility for multiple OEM rotating equipment fleets, to complete facility management with a performance-based compensation structure.
Other Services

In addition to our core business, maintenance, and repair of reciprocating engines, we can also offer our associated services that we can accomplish with and through a broad network of collaborators and business partners and represented products that we can bring together for specific needs of a project and/or a customer. Acromex supervised the overhaul of their main engine MaK 6CM43 on their vessel "Cordillera" .
Barrick Engine Obverhaul

Acromex was selected to overhaul their RICE Wartsila 18V46 and also service their wind farm.
Wartsila Nohab 16V25 Overhaul

Acromex overhauled all four engines for Maricunga.
12CM43C Service at Collahuasi

The contract considers the scheduled maintenance of the entire plant that has 4 x Caterpillar Generators Model 12CM43C of 10.8 MW (ISO) and 2 x Generators Caterpillar Model 16CM43C of 13.9 MW (ISO) as well as their auxiliary equipment.
Overhaul 8V25 Don Pedro WellBoat

In May, 2013, Naviera Santa Maria awards Acromex Chile the overhaul of the main engine of their WellBoat M/V "Don Pedro", a Wartsila Nohab WN8V25.
The engine was removed from the ship and shipped to Acromex facilities in Talcahuano, Chile for a complete refurbishing of the unit.

Our History

Otto Wohlt Zorn (RIP)

February 15th, 1956 - December 14th, 2024

The history of Acromex dates back to mid-2012, following the acquisition of shares from the previous partners, with our founder, Mr. Otto Wohlt (RIP) becoming the majority shareholder.

We moved to our current facilities and began operations. Due to the positive results and the trust placed in us, the company has experienced sustained growth and expanded its client base. We were awarded important projects such as:

· Late 2012 - (November) Major maintenance work was performed for our client Barrick Chile, which consisted of the overhaul of the Wärtilä 18V46 Generator Unit (15 MW) at the Punta Colorada Power Plant, located north of the city of La Serena.

· 2013 - We were awarded the project to overhaul four engines belonging to Minera Maricunga, located at 4,200 meters above sea level near Tierra Amarilla, in the Atacama Region. In parallel, work is being done on the reconstruction and installation of a NOHAB 25 engine in Puerto Natales.

· 2014 – Technical inspection of four generator units in India and Sweden for subsequent installation in Chile.

· 2014-2015 – Installation, repair, commissioning, and start-up of four Wärtsilä W46, W32, and VASA 32 generator units during the construction of the Andes Generación Power Plant in Diego de Almagro, Region 3.

· 2015 – The corporate structure is modified, and a new company called ACROMEX SpA is created.

· Major repair of three 2 MW generator units at Minera Maricunga, owned by the Canadian company KINROSS.

In April 2017, ACROMEX was awarded by Enor Chile for a scheduled maintenance contract and repair services for 3 years for the 44 MW Ujina Generation Plant, located at 4,400 m.s.m.m., of the Mining Company Dona Ines de Collahuasi and operated by EnorChile S.A.
The contract considers the scheduled maintenance of the entire plant that has 4 x Caterpillar Generators Model 12CM43C of 10.8 MW (ISO) and 2 x Generators Caterpillar Model 16CM43C of 13.9 MW (ISO) as well as their auxiliary equipment.

Presently, Acromex is EnorChile's strategic partner in their international business development program in search for business and market expansion in Latin America.

In late 2024, it is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we informed of the passing of our founder, colleague and friend, Otto Wohlt Zorn, who passed away on last December 14th. Otto passed away unexpectedly after a sudden deterioration of his health.

2025 - Acromex needs a restructuring process and a new management is appointed.
